Ongoing Support:

  • DSAHV Infant/Toddler Play Group

DSAHV invites all families of children with Down syndrome between the ages of newborn-three to join our play group.  The Early Intervention stage is challenging for families as we begin this new, often unexpected, journey. The DSAHV play group will allow you to connect with other families in an intimate setting. Create friendships with other parents who walk in your shoes and understand the emotional roller coaster you may be experiencing. Moms and dads, young siblings are welcome!
Send your complete contact information-name, address, telephone number(s), email address and child's name and date of birth to info@dsahv.org or call Melissa 845-226-1630. Our Coordinator, Tracy, will follow up with further details.

The Education Coaches Committee is comprised of a small group of mothers and advocates for children with Down syndrome. Together they combine information and resources for families to enable both parents and children to make informed educational and work related decisions. They meet monthly to collaborate ideas in order to provide accurate and current information to families. They have recently begun arranging presentations and have invited several speakers from organizations such as Independent Living, Aim High and NYSED to come to the Hudson Valley and discuss the issues at hand.

The group will continue to schedule presentations, workshops and would love to hear from different families regarding what issues you would like information on. Their goal is to help individuals with Down syndrome obtain the resources they need to lead productive and independent lives. They are also attempting to compile a list of various healthcare professionals that are knowledgeable on the health issues that can occur with Down syndrome. The Coaches are available to all families searching for support and information in the Hudson Valley.
