Sunday, October 13, 2013.  DSAHV Annual Buddy Walk. 
Registration begins at 11am, walk begins at noon.

“Family reunion” and fundraiser at the East Fishkill Recreation Center in Hopewell Junction, NY.  Invite family and friends to promote acceptance and inclusion during this event which kicks off Down syndrome awareness month.  Our largest gathering of friends and family to celebrate our special community. 

Day of events include a one mile walk, on a paved path, around the recreation center perimeter.  Light lunch will be served after the walk.  Attendees are also encouraged to bring a picnic lunch or snacks, especially if someone in your group has specific dietary restrictions.  Fall themed arts and crafts begin when registration opens.  Outdoor fun includes a Tumblebus, playground and Zumba dancing.  Face painting and balloon animals will be offered.   A live animal encounter will begin promptly after lunch is served.  Event occurs rain or shine.  For a flyer with day of walk activities click here.

[*Note that if you have family and friends walking with you their names should be listed as well.  Either one team leader can register once and note all team member names or each individual can register on their own.]  T-shirts will be distributed to those who register and participate.  Credit card donations are accepted in advance via PayPal.  If you wish to make a donation you can do so through the online registration form.  You do not need to raise funds to participate but the more money raised, the more we can give back to our Hudson Valley families.  Check donations can be mailed before October 11, 2013 to DSAHV PO Box 352 Gardiner, NY 12525.  Donors should note that the donation is for the Buddy Walk and list a name if in honor of a specific individual.  

Advance registration and donations are preferred but hard copy registration forms, cash and check donations are accepted on the day of the walk.  If you prefer to print and download a registration form you can do so here. .

The Buddy Walk was established by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to promote acceptance and inclusion for individuals with DS.  The Buddy Walk has expanded from 17 walks nationwide in 1995 to over 250 walks in 2012.  Last year over 11.75 million was raised across the country for the DS community.
